SCHOOL OF PHARMACY AND PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES MEETS WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PUBLIC DIPLOMACY SECTION OF THE UNITED STATE EMBASSY

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS) hosted representatives from the Public Diplomacy Section of the US Embassy to discuss potential future collaborations. The meeting, which took place on August 6, 2025, at the Dean's Office, School of Pharmacy's building, brought together key stakeholders from both parties.

The US Embassy delegation consisted of Travis Tokuyama (Public Diplomacy Associate), Jemima Amankwa (Public Engagement Coordinator), and Rafiatu Lawal (Education and English Language Outreach Coordinator). Representing SoPPS were Prof. Ernest Obese (Dean), Prof. Elvis Ofori Ameyaw (Immediate Past Dean), Dr. Isaac Tabiri Henneh (Vice-Dean), Prof. Robert Peter Biney (Head, Dept. of Pharmacotherapeutics and Pharmacy Practice), Dr. Esther Eshun Oppong (Head, Dept. of Pharmaceutics), and Mrs. Esther Bema Nimo (Faculty Officer).

The meeting provided a platform for both parties to explore opportunities for collaboration in the areas of research, education, and capacity-building initiatives, with a focus on advancing academic excellence and promoting global partnerships.

The Dean, at the meeting thanked the US Embassy for facilitating the visit of Dr. Jon Wietholther who visited the SoPPS and helped the School to develop an integrated practice-ready modular PharmD curriculum.

The team from the US Embassy was also pleased that SoPPS was able to host the Fulbright Specialist and shared other opportunities beneficial to staff and students of the School.
