The School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS) is one of six (6) Schools in the College of Health and Allied Sciences (CoHAS). It was established in August 2018  to primarily train students to obtain Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) in order to expand the healthare delivery team of professionals. Additionally, the School also runs competitive programmes such as MSc/MPhil/PhD in Cosmetic Science and in Pharmaceutical Technology. The School has five (5) Departments: Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy & Herbal Medicine, Pharmacotherapeutics & Pharmacy Practice.

The School has a total of forty (40) staff comprising twenty-two (22) academic staff and eighteen (18) non-academic staff. It is strategically positioned in the University of Cape Coast for the academic and professional development of not only professional pharmacist, but the capacity building of future generations of academics and scholars in the field of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Professor. Ernest Obese

Pharmacologist

Professor. Ernest Obese is a registered pharmacist and a Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Cape Coast. Prof. Obese is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), Society of Neuroscientists of Africa (SONA), Convention for Biomedical Research Ghana (CoBReG), International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research.
