ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR 2024 NATIONAL SERVICE PERSONNEL AT SOPPS
The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS) successfully organised an orientation programme for the 2024 cohort of National Service Personnel. The event, held at the School of Medical Sciences Auditorium on Wednesday, 23rd October 2024, was formally opened with a welcome address by the Dean, Prof. Elvis Ofori Ameyaw, who emphasised the School’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of National Service personnel.
The orientation programme featured engaging presentations on key topics, including an overview of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; Work Ethics and Discipline; and Dress Code. Heads of Department shared valuable insights and advice, providing the National Service persons with a comprehensive understanding of their roles and expectations. The orientation programme for the 2024 cohort also provided a platform for the National Service persons to interact with staff, fostering a sense of community and teamwork.
The programme was attended by Prof. Elvis Ofori Ameyaw (Dean); Dr. Ernest Obese (Vice-Dean); Dr. Robert Peter Biney (Head, Department of Pharmacotherapeutics and Pharmacy Practice); Dr. Kwesi Prah Thomford (Head, Department of Pharmacognosy and Pharmacy Practice; Dr. Esther Eshun Oppong (Head, Department of Pharmaceutics); Dr. Jonathan Asante (Coordinator – Community Based Experience and Service); Mr. Eyram Tulasi (School Accountant) and Mr. Jeremiah T. Aderoju (Snr. ICT Assistant).
On behalf of all the Service Personnel, Mr. Kingsley Kofi Opare thanked the SoPPS Management for the orientation programme stating that the insightful sessions and valuable information provided during the programme will equip them to perform their roles and responsibilities, fostering a productive and supportive environment within the School.
In his closing remarks, the Dean encouraged the personnel to be proactive, innovative, and dedicated to their duties. Mrs. Esther Bema Nimo (School Faculty Officer) expertly moderated the programme, ensuring a smooth and engaging session for all participants.
