PROF. DAVID DARKO OBIRI DEAN’S AWARD 2024

The Dean's Award ceremony took place on Friday, February 23rd, 2024, at the School of Medical Science (SMS) Auditorium, UCC. This event was organized to recognize and commend the top-performing pharmacy students and to inspire them to strive for excellence in future endeavors. Named in honor of the late Professor David Darko Obiri, the first Dean of the School of Pharmacy at UCC, the ceremony commemorated his legacy of dedication and commitment. May his soul continue to rest in peace.

A total of twelve (12) students spanning levels 100 to 500 were honored for their exceptional academic achievements, while one student received special recognition for designing the school of pharmacy cloth. Each awardee received a plaque and an undisclosed monetary prize. A total of 16 awards was presented.

Dr. Andrew Druye, representing the Dean of the School of Nursing, and Professor Ocansey, representing the Dean of the School of Allied Health, graced the occasion and assisted in award presentations, offering valuable words of advice to the students. Also, in attendance were the Dean of the School of Pharmacy, Professor Elvis Ameyaw, Vice Dean Dr. Ernest Obese, faculty members, staff, national personnel, and all Pharm-D students from first to fifth year.

Additionally, visiting Professor Jon Wietholter, a Fulbright specialist from West Virginia University USA, shared invaluable insights and highlighted various opportunities available to pharmacy students.

  8.       Otchere Isreal Kwabi                   (Best male 3rd year student)

  9.       Koranteng Owuraku Antwi           (Most improved 3rd year student)

  10.       Ohemeng Gideon Nketiah           (Best male & overall best 2nd year student)

  11.       Adusei Spendy-love Asantewaa  (Best female 2nd year student)
