ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR 2023/2024 NATIONAL SERVICE PERSONNEL POSTED TO SoPPS

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences organised an Orientation Programme for National Service Personnel posted to the School on Monday, 13th November, 2023. Speaking at the programme, the Dean of the School, Prof Elvis Ofori Ameyaw stated that the programme was organised to ensure that the Personnel gain a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities during the service period thereby contributing to a sense of purpose and direction.

Dr. Ernest Obese, the Vice Dean of the School made a presentation on work ethics. He urged the Personnel to abide by rules and regulations in the University; sign in and out when they report to work; avoid any form of temptations that may come their way; adhere to all the Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) in the laboratory; take care of the equipment in the laboratory and the offices; dress decently to work; and seek redress through the Heads of Department when the need arises.

Also present at the Orientation Programme were some staff of the School namely; Dr. Daniel Anokwah, Dr. Isaac Yaw Attah, Dr. Jonathan Asante, Dr. Daniel Obeng-Mensah, Dr. Kofi Nyanor Amoh, Ms. Constance Caroline Cobbold, Mrs. Esther Bema Nimo, Mr. Emmanuel Adakudugu, Mr. Jeremiah Tolulope Aderoju and Mr. Kwame Eyram Tulasi.

Staff of the School advised Personnel to gain practical experience; build relationships with colleagues, supervisors and other professionals; treat national service like a real job; take advantage to acquire new skills; communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors; volunteer for extra responsibilities; document achievements; tasks, and projects; and plan for the future.

On behalf of his colleagues, Mr. John Odoom thanked the Dean and staff of the School for taking time off their schedule to welcome them to the School. He indicated that, they would not just view their service year as a requirement, but see it as an opportunity to learn, grow and contribute to their community.
