SoPPS-UCC AND PSGH INTERACTION MEETING

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS), University of Cape Coast facilitated an educative and social interaction between members of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), Central Regional branch, SoPPS staff and students of  University of Cape Coast (UCC) on the 18th of March, 2021.

The interaction was aimed at sensitising students on the profession into which they are being trained as well as to introduce them to the main sectors of the Pharmacy profession Prof. Elvis Ameyaw” (Dean of SoPPS-UCC).

Several renowned members of the professional body were present at the event.

  • The Deputy Director of Claims of the Cape Coast metropolis of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

  • Pharm. Ewuradwoa Asante, the country manager for Novartis Pharmaceutical Company talked about the role of the Association of Representatives of Ethical Pharmaceutical Industries.

  • Pharm Dr. Robert Incoom, the Director of Pharmacy at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) and the Chairman of PSGH.

  • Pharm Dr. Joseph Kizzie-Hayford the Director of Pharmacy at the University of Cape Coast Hospital.

  • Pharm Ishmael Damoah the Central Regional manager of the Pharmacy Council of Ghana.

  • Pharm Ewurama Esia Donkor, the vice chairperson of PSGH spoke briefly on the Lady Pharmacists Association of Ghana (LAPAG).

  • Pharm Godfred Onsonyameye and Pharm. Barbara Adu-Brimpong, the Organiser and Secretary of PSGH.

Other members present are Pharm Theophilus Owusu Ansah, Pharm. Richard Annan-Dadzie, Pharm Dr. Nana Abeka Twentoh and Pharm. Daniel Asante all members of PSGH.

Dr Robert Binney, Dr Ernest Obese, Dr Issac Attah, Dr Tabiri Henneh, Dr Esther Eshun, Dr Jonathan Asnate, Mrs Rebecca Owusu (Faculty Officer) and others were also in attendance.

The Dean who chaired the function reiterated the need to be professional right from school to the practice of the pharmacy profession. He thanked everyone present including all the staff of the School and urged them to continuously ensure discipline in the training of students.
